...Trying

As anyone who has known me through the years will tell you,
I am addicted to junk food and sugar (and salt haha)!

But the last few months I have been TRYING...
(only succeeding some days)
to eat better, drink more water, and get off my lazy butt!

What works best is that if I just don't buy it or let it in the house,
then I can't get my hands on it.
So we still have plenty of good snacks-
I just try to skip the Little Debbie isle at the grocery store.
...She's a temptress, that Debbie girl...

Our Relief Society has also been doing a fun competition
called Healthy and Heavenly,
where you earn points for eating your fruits & veggies,
reading scriptures & saying prayers,
exercising, and so on...

PLUS if you can believe it,
I finally mustered up enough
self discipline
to do some of this:

I'm in the middle of my 5th week,
and I'm getting bored.
DON'T get me wrong...
It's an awesome workout!
...It's just kind of repetitive
(you'd think that wouldn't bug me after so much gymnastics
but I've got a little attention deficit).

BUT I AM going to finish it.

five.
more.
weeks.
yeah!

7 lbs to get back to my "normal weight"
and yeah yeah, I know I know, I KNOW already!
I know that I am not fat hello!
but add 7 lbs for each of the 6-8 kids I want
and BAM. fat.
haha.

No, mostly I just want to feel better.
Being lazy feels like crap.

GO anybody who wants to FEEL BETTER!!!

ZZZZZZZZzzzzzz ZZZzzZz

ZZZZzzz....
That's what we've been doing at night WOO!
haha.

Starting about a week and a half ago,
(about 10 weeks old)
our little man decided he loves his mama
soo much that he'd start letting her sleep.

So we do.
9-11 hours straight.
Every night.
(knock on wood)

He was never doing horribly at waking me up.
We've been doing 10 or 11 hours anyway with
just one wake up around 3 or 4 am,
but getting rid of that one wake up changed my world.
I feel like I'm alive enough to be a good mom again.

I don't know about you other new mommies
but sleep makes or breaks me.
Even before Jace was born,
I felt like I should have been a better mom
because I was exhausted from keeping up with
a two-year-old while being 8 months pregnant.

Then he was born, and I was still tired, PLUS
I was trying to figure out how to organize a day
with two kids in it.
(I understand that I'm probably preaching
to the choir here, but seriously)
As soon as this sweetheart started sleeping
the whole night, my house is tidy (er),
I don't feel like I'm going to pass out while reading to Lainee,
the clothes are getting folded,
the dishes are getting done,
we're back to having a more consistent routine,
 etc, etc.

I know myself again!
And the real, sweet Lainee seems to be returning as well.
(knock on wood again)

(and here's just a picture of our princess
asleep on the couch cause she's feeling a little crummy.)

The Sandman may be my new favorite over Santa...

Moral of the story:
WE LOVE SLEEP!

Valley of Fire

Garen had a two week break from school
and we did tons of fun stuff as a family,
and with our awesome friends.

Toward the end of the break though,
we decided it was time to got visit
Garen's Grandpa and Grandma McKenna in Overton
(they always fly south in the winter to get out of ID).

They took us to the Valley of Fire and it was
REALLY COOL.

We did a few little "hikes" and saw some cool petroglyphs,
a petrified log and just some cool sights and caves.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
It was a fun day.

Love

Our Valentine's Day 2013:
We made Garen some cards and got him some treats,
and he came home from school with roses!

Pink for Lainee
 and yellow for me!

We had breakfast for dinner- heart pancakes.

Then we all went out to the hot tub, which was relaxing,
and made Lainee happy because it's been a while since
she got to swim.

Then the kids went to bed and we got some alone time,
watching our favorite shows and drinking sparkling cider
out of fancy little (plastic) glasses.

Pretty good day with the people I love,
especially my sweet hubby!

LOVE YOU GAREN!

great friends

In the middle of a VERY busy semester,
our good friends Kris and Shawn had a Super Bowl party
and I think it took at least a little bit of the stess out of everyone's week.

(I think it's funny that every mom in this picture is holding
either a toy or a sippy cup... such is the life. haha.)
